I am always amazed at the difference between the attitude of adults vs. children when it comes to painting (or really any artistic creative attempt). Kids will jump in, all in. They do not need to think, rethink, change their minds, critique their abilities, doubt themselves and then change their mind again. Just give it a try. Really. Of course your 1st attempt may not be perfect, then again, ART in any form isn’t supposed to be perfect!! But the time spent creating is far more important than the actual project!
Take for instance Ruth. Ruth has joined us many times to paint in our Eagan Paint Your Own Pottery Studio. She has celebrated birthdays with us and she and her family have attended some of our fun family events. Interesting you say, but lots of kids do that. Well, not of kids like Ruth!
Ruth paints, eats, lives her life using her feet. She is full of joy and loves to paint pottery. She isn’t worried about how it will turn out, if it will be perfect or if she’s “doing it right”. There is no right or wrong in Art and let me tell you if there were….She would be doing it PERFECTLY!
