Officer Colten

I’m sure you have heard about the therapeutic benefits of Art. Maybe thought once or twice about giving it a try to relieve stress, and then went right back to the same old behavior of pushing through. This store may make you think twice about that. Its been a while now, over a year actually, since we met Stephanie. She came in to purchase a plate to paint. Thats what people do at Color Me Mine, they purchase something to paint. But this was a very special plate. You see, her son Colten has been struggling with a disease that has required many, many, many surgeries. He’s either in recovery or having surgery it seems. Colten has dreams of becoming a Police Officer or maybe another one of our men and women on the front lines of our communities when we need help. Stephanie wanted to make Colten feel special by having him deliver a special plate to his heroes…..so she started painting!

As Colten has continued to battle, struggle and fight this disease Stephanie continues to paint. She has painted at least 50 plates so far with many more to be done. Doing something creative takes an “in the moment” focus! You must take the time to really concentrate to get your work done. It can reduce stress and make life a little easier, if just for a brief time. We love seeing what Stephanie has done and the photos of the joy on “Officer Coltens” face when he gets to deliver these beautiful pieces.
